Kyra has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Mosaic Turners Syndrome and is treated at Lurie Children's Hospital.
Even when her fever is 104 degrees, Kyra smiles and cracks jokes. She wakes up happy after every surgery and fully embraces a “don’t sweat the small stuff” attitude. Kyra doesn’t let her congenital heart defect affect her optimistic and spunky personality.
Once in a while Kyra will hit a rough patch and tell her mom, “I don’t want to be sick anymore today.” It’s the reality of a vulnerable child facing a serious illness. She bounces back quickly, though, and is always on the lookout for ways to thank her caregivers or help other kids.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raise awareness and generate funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals through compassionate organizations, media partners and individuals to help sick and injured kids in local communities. These donations create miracles by funding specialized medical care, research and education that save and improve the lives of children like Kyra.
Credit Unions for Kids is the third largest donor to this amazing organization, having donated over $110 Million since 1996. This joint effort among credit unions throughout the country, including First Northern Credit Union, is one way credit unions help their local communities - by making sure families in their membership always have a place to turn if a child becomes ill or injured. Even though we hope you never need the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, we want to be sure it’s there if you do.
We will be collecting change for the Change a Child’s Life coin drive until 6/1/16.
