Donations are accepted until April 3, 2017 and will go to organizations that supply formal attire for girls who cannot afford the high cost of prom.
The Rockford chapter of Becca’s Closet serves as a boutique that collects and distributes formal wear free of charge to young women from Rockford and surrounding communities who would not otherwise be able to attend proms, homecomings, and other special events, like winter formals. Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries, a partnership organization of area ELCA congregations, operates the chapter.
Becca’s Closet regularly accepts donated dresses and accessories, including party shoes. Dresses that are clean and in good repair, plus-size and short gowns are especially appreciated.
Each spring, The Women's Club transforms it's historic clubhouse into a sparkling prom boutique, providing prom attire, makeup, and hair consultations, free of charge, to Evanston Township High School senior girls. Youthful new or lightly used dresses, shoes and accessories of all sizes are appreciated.
