Illinois Housing Development Authority

About IHDA

In 1967, the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) was created as a self-supporting authority by the state legislature to finance quality affordable housing across Illinois.  They connect qualified Illinois residents and communities with state and federal financial tools to stimulate affordable housing opportunities.

First Northern partnered with the IHDA in 2014 in order to offer our members a number of homebuyer programs that make it possible for people to afford new homes.  The programs are ideal for borrowers who need extra flexibility or who have limited funds for down payment and/or closing costs, yet have the financial means to maintain monthly mortgage payments.

Getting and IHDA Loan

Buying a home can be an exciting and intimidating process.  With an IHDA loan, we strive to make the process as streamlined as possible so you can achieve your goal of homeownership.  In the video below, you will see how easy the IHDA loan process can be and how we helped a family achieve the dream of homeownership by purchasing their first home.
