Beginning February 10th, 2025, First Northern Credit Union will begin sending text messages to our members who hold a Visa® Debit Card if we detect unusual purchases or potential suspicious activity. This text message will only be used to verify if the charge is valid.
Many scammers who send fraudulent texts of this nature will request you click a link or call a phone number to initially verify transactions. Our text message will only start by asking you to verify with a reply of YES or NO. If you do not recognize the charge, and you reply with a NO, you will be asked to call our Fraud Center.
The Fraud Center may ask various questions including full card name, card number, exp date etc. You should not provide anyone with your pin numbers, CVV or passwords and always be cautious when giving out personal information. If something seems suspicious, contact First Northern directly at 888.328.8677 to speak directly with someone who can assist you with resolving any issues.
Regarding fraud and your accounts, always ensure you review your transaction history on a regular basis to catch transactions that you did not originate. By checking your transaction history you can view charges that have posted as well as ones that are pending. If you find any charges that you do not recognize, call us at 888.328.8677 and we will assist you with resolving any issues.
