Targeted Text Message Scam

On November 5th, 2025, First Northern Credit Union was made aware of a fraudulent text message circulating with claims of halting accounts. These text messages are a scam and are not from First Northern. While we are investigating the source of the scam, we want to take a moment to remind you about text scams.

Fraudulent text scams are often targeted at an area or segment of phone numbers. These text messages are sent out en masse in hopes of catching those who have accounts or qualify for whatever their fake messages are detailing.

Often times, these messages request a phone call or to visit a website to verify information. These sites or calls are used to gain the information from you in order for the scammer to use for their own purposes. Anytime you receive a text message alerting you to something related to an account or credit card and you are provided a link or phone number, always make a direct call to the business or financial institution directly instead of using the information in the message.

Your credit card and debit cards all should have phone numbers printed on the reverse side of the card to utilize.
