This season, First Northern Credit Union was proud to make three separate $500 donations to organizations doing incredible work in the communities we serve. Hunger, housing insecurity, and financial strain continue to impact families across Northern Illinois and Chicago, so we chose to support groups that meet these needs head-on with compassion and consistency.
In Rockford, we contributed $500 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. They stretch every dollar in remarkable ways. For each $1 donated, they can provide about $8 worth of groceries. That means our gift helps supply roughly $4,000 in food that will reach families through food pantries, mobile markets, and partner organizations throughout the region. It is one meaningful way we can help ensure our neighbors have access to the meals they need.
In Evanston, we donated $500 to Connections for the Homeless. Each year, this organization supports more than 5,000 people who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Our donation helps strengthen their efforts across shelter programs, housing support, outreach, and vital services that offer safety and a path toward stability. Their work reaches people during some of the toughest moments of their lives, and we are grateful to contribute to that mission.
In Streeterville, we supported Nourishing Hope with a $500 contribution. Nourishing Hope shares that every $1 donated can help provide about three meals. Our donation has the potential to support around 1,500 meals for individuals and families across Chicago. Along with food distribution, Nourishing Hope also offers counseling, case management, and support services that help people move toward long-term well-being.
These efforts reflect First Northern Credit Union’s commitment to being more than a financial institution. We believe in standing beside the organizations that lift our communities up and caring for the people who depend on them. Each of these donations represents hope, partnership, and the belief that strong communities are built when we support one another.
We’re grateful for the work these organizations do each day and proud to play a small part in helping them continue their mission.
