Credit Card Fraud Recovery Checklist

Print

Have you found an unusual or unauthorized credit card transaction while viewing your account transactions via online/mobile banking or on your latest statement?

  1. Call First Northern immediately to report the suspected fraud at (888) 328-8677 during business hours. After hours, contact Visa® Credit Card customer service at (800) 322-8472
  2. Staff at First Northern will block your existing card, changing its status to lost or stolen. This will prevent additional fraudulent transactions from being posted.
  3. First Northern will issue you a new card number, rendering the previous number inactive. First Northern will mail a new card to your residence.
  4. You will receive a dispute form to complete for any fraudulent transactions that have successfully posted to your account. You will need to fill out one form per unauthorized transaction.
  5. Review your transaction history to ensure any recurring charges that have auto payment set up are directed to a different payment method until your new card arrives. Once your new card arrives, review those accounts again if you need to direct those automatic payments to your new credit card.
  6. If you have signed up for SecurLock or Visa Purchase Alerts, ensure your new card is added to those services.
  7. You also have the right to file a police report.
